Great Shelford Recreation Ground is where we hold our Feast and other events of the Festival.It is just off Woollards Lane in the heart of Great Shelford village.

Great Shelford is 3 miles south of Cambridge with easy access to the A10 and M11.
Shelford is the first railway station south of Cambridge on the Liverpool Street line - only 5 minutes away!

From Addenbrookes hospital take the Babraham Road (A1307) to the Gog Magog roundabout then turn right up Hinton Way, over the hill into Great Shelford. Cross the railway line, straight ahead at the traffic lights and the Recreation Ground is on Woollards Lane on the left.

From the M11 take Junction 11 (A10, Cambridge south) At the second set of traffic lights turn right following signs for Shelfords, Stapleford, Sawston. Continue for 2 miles, passing Scotsdales Nursery and the Rugby Ground) into Great Shelford. Turn right at the traffic lights along Woollards Lane. The Recreation Ground is on the left.

From Sawston take the Sawston bypass (A1301) through Stapleford and cross the railway bridge into Great Shelford. At the traffic lights turn left into Woollards Lane. The Recreation Ground is on the left.

Train
From Shelford Station
turn right (south) along Station Road to the traffic lights at Tunwells Lane.
Straight across into Woollards Lane.
The Recreation Ground is on the left.
Total 5-7 minutes walk.
Regular trains run even on Sundays and take just 5 minutes from Cambridge.

Bus

The 7 offers frequent services and connects Shelford directly to places from Saffron Walden right through the City to Cottenham.
There is even an hourly Sunday service. Stagecoach timetable here.

Myalls 132 also offers varied destinations on weekdays (Myalls timetable here) and Shelford appears to have kept its stops on the Sunday Myalls 32

 

 

Parking

The main village car park will be full from very early in the day and there is no parking on the recreation ground.
Please park thoughtfully.

Alternative car parks are:
off Woollards Lane, between the newsagent and the hairdresser

and by the Health Centre, off the High Street along Ashen Green. From here there is a path through to the recreation ground.

Bike

But if you're local, why not walk or bike?

A new Sustrans cycle path runs directly from Shelford to Addenbrookes hospital then beyond to Cambridge
